Let your kids learn the basics of computer programming in a fun and playful way, with mentors from Sofico on stand-by to guide them.

Are your kids interested in learning the basics of computer programming in a fun and playful way?

Come join us every second Wednesday from 16u00 - 18u00

3 Sofico CoderDojo mentors will be present to assist children as they experiment with Scratch and Arduino and learn the basic principles behind coding.

Scratch:  a free programming language for creating your own interactive stories, games, and animations.

Through Scratch, kids can get to work and learn the principles behind programming. Every session, we provide exercises for each level, from beginner to advanced. Attendees can also work on their own projects.

Your child can join at any time between January and June and is not expected to attend each session. We do need you to register your child for each CoderDojo session in advance.

Arduino: open source computer hardware and software for building interactive objects

Is your child already familiar with programming basics?

We have several Arduino units available which offer a grater challenge for young would-be programmers.

With a variety of sensors and switches, they can create their own project and bring their vision to life.

No, CoderDojo is free for all participating kids.

For children from 7 to 12 years old, we need an adult supervisor to accompany the child. Children ages 12 to 18 years can come alone.

Does my child need to know anything about coding to attend?

No, the children don't need to know anything about coding or programming.
We'll start them off with some easy projects so they can learn the basics.

Do I need to sign my child up for a minimum number of sessions?

No. Kids can drop in for one or for several sessions. Our mentors will prepare a few projects of different difficulty levels for each session. Children can choose one of our projects to work on or they can work on their own project.
